This walk combines a walk along part of the Essex Way to the old wool town of Coggeshall with a scenic walk from Coggeshall to Kelvedon, partly along the bank of the River Blackwater. It involves a relatively small amount of road walking.

Spans OS Explorer Maps 184, 195 and 183. Alternatively, use OS Landranger Map 168.

Commences at Chappel and Wakes Colne rail station (on the Marks Tey to Sudbury branch-line) - Grid Reference TL 897288 - and ends at Kelvedon rail station - Grid Reference TL863193.

Going: Flat (Easy) Distance: Approximately 8.9 miles (14.2 Km)

Places of Interest: In Coggeshall there are two places worth a visit - Paycocke's House (see www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-paycockes) and the Old Barns (see www.coggeshall-barn.org.uk/). Check on opening times before visiting.

Pubs: There are pubs in Chappel, Great Tey, Coggeshall (approximately 2.25 hours from the start of the walk) and Kelvedon (at the end of the walk).
