This circular walk is based on Chappel and combines a visit to the old village of Earls Colne with a walk along the Colne Valley. The majority of the walk is on tracks & footpaths, with a minimum of road walking. Some of the tracks can get very muddy and slippery after rain.The shorter version of the walk (see below) has a couple of relatively steep ascents/descents.

Commences and ends at Chappel & Wakes Colne rail station (on the single-track branch line from Marks Tey to Sudbury) - Grid Reference TL 897288.
Going: Undulating with a few steep climbs/descents (Moderate)
There are short and long versions of this walk - the shorter version (Option A) is approximately 7.4 miles long whilst the longer version (Option B) is 8.7 miles long - see map below and walk details.
