Holy Trinty Church, Pleshey
This circular walk initially follows the Essex Way along the valley of Walthambury Brook to the pretty village of Pleshey, where there is an old Norman castle mound. It then curves back, mainly using quiet hedge and tree-lined tracks, to Great Waltham, where it ends. Note that a few of the bridleways/tracks it follows can get very muddy after rain. Whilst there is a little road walking, this is along quiet country lanes.
Use OS Explorer Map 183; alternatively, use the OS Landranger Map 167.
The start and end of the walk is in the village of Great Waltham - Grid Reference TL 695134. This is reached via the numbers 42 and 42A buses from Chelmsford bus station.
Going: Mainly flat (Easy)
Distance: Approximately 6.3 miles (10 Km)
Pubs: The pubs on the route of the walk are in Pleshey, Broad’s Green and Great Waltham.
