This walk starts at Hatfield Peverel, then tracks roughly north to the village of White Notley. After some initial road walking, much of the remainder of the route is off-road and scenic. Over half the route follows the Essex Way. It crosses two fords en route.

The walk starts at Hatfield Peverel station – Grid Reference TL 789122 – on the London Liverpool Street to Braintree line and finishes at White Notley Station – Grid Reference TL 789187 - on the same line. Note that, outside of the peak week-time period, there is only one train each hour on the Braintree service.
Going: Mainly flat (Easy) Distance: Approximately 7.6 miles (12.2 Km)
Pubs: There are several pubs in Hatfield Peverel and a pub in Terling village (approximately 3.6 miles from the start of the walk). The pub near the end of the walk in White Notley was closed because of a fire on 1 April 2010.
