A series of walks in the Essex countryside accessible via public transport

This walk starts at Hatfield Peverel and, after a little initial road walking, joins a series of paths and tracks that lead down to the north bank of the River Chelmer. The walk then follows the Chelmer into the centre of Chelmsford.

It commences at Hatfield Peverel rail station (one stop beyond Chelmsford on the London Liverpool Street to Colchester/Ipswich line) - Grid Reference TL 789123 - and ends at Chelmsford rail station - Grid Reference TL 706071.

Going: Flat (Easy) Distance: Approximately 9 miles (14.5 Km)

Pubs: There are no pubs until you reach Chelmsford; there is a cafe at Paper Mill Bridge, overlooking the river about half way along the walk - see Walk Details.
