North Fambridge to Burnham-on-Crouch Walk
Althorne Marina from the East
Starting at North Fambridge, this walk follows the north bank of the River Crouch before ending in the pleasant town of Burnham-on-Crouch. A small amount of road walking is involved at each end of the walk.
Use OS Explorer Map 176; alternatively, OS Landranger Map 168.
The walk commences at North Fambridge rail station (on the London Liverpool Street/Shenfield to Southminster line) - Grid Reference TQ 856978 - and finishes at Burnham-on-Crouch rail station (two stops up the same line) - Grid Reference TQ 948965. Note that there is only one train per hour in each direction.
Going: Flat (Easy) Distance: Approximately 9.1 miles (14.7 Km)
Pubs: there are several pubs in Burnham-on-Crouch - see Walk Details.
If a shorter walk is required, whilst still seeing the River Crouch, you may start it at Althorne rail station (between North Fambridge and Burnham) - Grid Reference TQ 905979.
