Based on White Notley Rail Station, south of Braintree, this is a circular walk that passes through two attractive villages as well as visiting the medieval site of Cressing Temple. The walk combines a mix of footpaths with some road walking. It also involves crossing a railway line at a number of places.
The walk spans OS Explorer Maps 183 and 195. Alternatively, use OS Landranger Map 167.
Commences and ends at White Notley Rail Station (on the Liverpool Street to Braintree line) - Grid Reference TL 789187.
Going: Relatively flat, with a couple of gradual climbs/descents (Easy)
Distance: Approximately 8.8 miles (14.2 Km)
Place of Interest: Cressing Temple, east of White Notley (see the second page of the Walk Details for information about this site)
Pubs: There is a pub in Cressing. There is also a pub in The Green en route, but we have found that this is not open at lunchtimes during the week (please check). Note that the pub in White Notley closed on 1 April 2010 after a fire.
